Michael Cooper MA ONZM 5 star rating

“Offering fine value, the rich, very harmonious 2021 vintage (*****) was estate-grown in the northern Wairarapa, matured for a year in French oak barriques (30 per cent new), and bottled unfined and unfiltered. Invitingly fragrant, it is weighty and generous, with concentrated, ripe cherry, plum and distinctly spicy flavours, hints of liquorice and dark chocolate, and supple tannins. Savoury and complex, it’s currently delicious, but ageworthy too. Best drinking 2026+” 8 Oct 2025 Michael Cooper

Description

This Pinot Noir is produced from 100%  Estate grown fruit which underwent maceration and fermentation for approximately three weeks, 20% whole bunch. The wine is then aged 30% in new French barriques with the balance in seasoned oak for 12 months, after which the wine is then bottled unfiltered and un-fined.

Enticing aromatics of violets, dark cherry, redcurrants and cedar lead to earthy, lightly spiced, subtle oak and red berries on the palate, finishing with smooth tannins.
