2011 Riesling Wairarapa

Lovely fruit flavours of lime fruit, papaya and green apple. Nice and refreshing mineralic, with a great acidity-sweetness balance, followed by apricots lingering on.

In 2011 we had a hot summer and a harvest starting off dry. The first picked Riesling grapes brought some green and appely flavours. The grapes more ripen picked later had flavours of peaches, apricots and honeymelon. The manufacturing of the fruits in the winery took place in a very gentle way. The fermentation was controlled and very slowly after German style. The Riesling for this release was selected from different vineyard sites. This origin-mixture gives the wine its own personal character.

Alcohol: 13 % vol.
Acidity: 7,0 g/l
Residual sugar: 15,0 g/l

It’s delightfully approachable yet has a potential to age magnificently. The bouquet is subtle, showing floral, lemon, white peach and green apple characters. It’s juicy and beautifully focused with subtle sweetness and bright acidity, finishing classically crisp and firm. A gorgeous Riesling. At its best: now to 2020. $22.00. Limited availability.
