2010 Chardonnay Wairarapa

Fruit from the Johner Estate and Waipipi vineyards fermented to 14.3% alc. and 7.9 g/L rs, the wine was matured 7 months in German oak. Bright straw-yellow in colour, this has aromas of flint, minerals and white stonefruits along with nuts and soft, smoky, seasoned oak. Dry and full-bodied, this has rich citrusy fruit flavours allied to spicy new oak, underscored by elevated acidity. The wine has weight and depth, with good fine textures, but is somewhat youthful, needing time to come together. Leave for 18 months and drink over the next 2-4 years with seafood and pork. 17.0-/20 Mar 2011 RRP $24.00
