TASTING NOTE MARCH 2011
Bright pale straw-yellow with green hues to the colour, this has a fresh, full, evenly expressed nose of ripe gooseberries and yellow stonefruits, along with minerally notes. Dry on palate, this has firmness and depth of gooseberry and bean fruit flavours, with a hint of smokiness, the mouthfeel enlivened by good acid freshness. The wine has richness and proportion and a sustained finish.
Our main Sauvignon Blanc. We gave this wine the oppurtunity to rest on its own lees (sur lie) for 9 months. This gives the wine a wonderful creamy structure, but also takes away part of the intense fruit, typically found in New Zealand Sauvignon Blanc. Fruit from the Johner Estate, cool stainless-steel fermented and given lees contact.
Drink over 2-3 years with seafood, salads and poultry.
